Anadromous
Fish Conservation Act of 1965 (Act) projects are conducted for
the conservation, development, and enhancement of Anadromous
fishery resources (those that migrate from salt to fresh water
for spawning) including similar species in the Great Lakes and
Lake Champlain. All projects must be cleared with the State fishery
agency of the State that the work is carried out in. Funding
level for the Act for the Southeast Region is approximately $104,000
per year. Projects in the Southeast Region have included the
following:
Evaluate
striped bass restoration in the coastal tributaries of Mississippi
Studies
on Alosid management in North Carolina, and
Investigations
of fisheries for American shad in South Carolina.
